Frequently Asked Questions

What am I expected to do?

This can vary widely, but as a guideline, mentors are expected to provide about three full hours of support per academic year. However, you are free to make arrangements with your mentee on frequency and mode of contact. Most of this interaction will take place via e-mail and other web-related tools (for example, instant messaging) or face-to-face, as appropriate. Mentors should work with their mentee to determine what kind of support will be most useful—specific feedback related to finding jobs, general career advice, information on higher studies, technical information, personal encouragement, and so on.

How long will the commitment be?

We ask our mentors to make commitments of one academic cycle (September-June) in order to ensure that the mentee is able to fully benefit from the relationship. If a mentor must leave the relationship early, please let us know as soon as possible so we can search for a replacement mentor with similar background.

Are there any risks?

No, the relationship is based on the exchange of general information and advice, not business transactions.

What if the relationship isn’t going well?

If you encounter any issues, please inform your mentee and contact the alumni manager immediately. We are here to support you and ensure a positive outcome.

Program Structure

Our mentorship program is designed to offer both structure and flexibility, ensuring that mentor-mentee relationships can develop naturally while maintaining clear goals.

Commitment: You will be asked to enter into a mentoring relationship for one academic year, from September until July. A minimum of three full mentoring sessions is expected, with the possibility of additional sessions based on mutual agreement. We encourage micro-engagements—quick check-ins or brief conversations—to maintain ongoing communication, but mentors should set clear expectations on their availability from the get-go.

Support: Throughout the program, the Alumni manager will be available to answer any questions or needed support. You will also be welcome to attend our events, where we will discuss mentoring and provide real life meetings with your mentee.

Feedback: As this is a new initiative, your insights are crucial in refining the program for future participants
