Leader identity work to strengthen collective leadership.
Description of session:
Today's VUCA (volatile, uncertain, complex & ambiguous) world is not served by normative models that favor one type of leadership and train leaders in critical management skills only. We need the leadership of many, and this requires in the first place a more open definition of leadership and a vertical view on leadership development.
In this session we will discover how our thinking about leadership has evolved over time, and we will look at the more recent theories of authentic and collective leadership. What exactly does this mean? What are the preconditions for realizing this? And, what are the implications for leadership development?

Short bio about the lecturer(s)
Karen Wouters pursued an academic career at Vlerick Business School and Robert H Smith School of Business (USA) until 2013. During those years she built up expertise in the areas of on-the-job learning, e-learning, executive coaching and leadership development. Today she combines an academic career with coaching work in practice, focusing on shared leadership, leadership development and women & leadership.
