More about Dirk and his motivation of starting this Chapter:
My motivation to set up and drive this chapter forward is the conviction that sustainability in all of its aspects and dimensions is by far the most important issue we have to focus on and solve as a global society. If we do not succeed in solving the ever worsening sustainability crisis, the Earth’s ecosystems will start to collapse at an increasing speed with extremely detrimental consequences for society as we know it. In order to help addressing and solving the global sustainability crisis, I have invested and I am still investing a lot of time, effort and resources in the appropriate education as well as in initiating practical initiatives such as the project to reduce riverine plastic pollution. Now, I would like to take it a step further and start an initiative within the Antwerp Management School to join forces and efforts to help business and industry (in Antwerp and Flanders) to become more sustainable as fast as possible. Given its unique position in the heart of Antwerp and its industry, its outstanding educational and research curriculum and its current initiatives related to sustainability (e.g. Chair in Management Education for Sustainability, the initiative “Towards a Circular and Wellbeing Economy”), the Antwerp Management School is the ideal institution to start an Alumni Chapter for sustainability.

We are looking for people with time, passion for sustainability and a wide variety of skills (not only related to sustainability but also business engineering, marketing and communication, social media, design thinking, …).

Goal
Mission & Vision of the Alumni Chapter on SDG Leadership:
The purpose of the AMS Alumni Sustainability Team is to help shape the efforts towards sustainability of the business community in Antwerp, Flanders and beyond by bringing stakeholders from business, industry, government and society with regard to sustainability together to disseminate and exchange practical stories, experience, knowledge and know-how.
