I have a story to share

For this #alumnistories update, we are giving the mic to Maxime Fache, who helped organize the  10 year reunion weekend of the 3CMGM class of 2013-2014

A weekend in Amsterdam

The weekend of our 10-year reunion was a testament to the bonds we built during our time together as the 3CMGM class of 2013-2014. On the initiative of one of our Belgian classmates, we embarked on the quest for the ideal location, considering visa requirements, flights, and accommodation availability. After careful consideration, we unanimously agreed on Amsterdam—a vibrant city that offered ease of access and a memorable setting for this special occasion.

10 years apart but still connected

Starting on Friday night, alumni began to trickle in from all corners of the world: Belgium, India, Austria, the UAE, North America, and beyond. The atmosphere was immediately charged with excitement and anticipation. Hugs and laughter filled the air as familiar faces reunited after a decade apart. We quickly realized that while we had each embarked on our unique paths in life, our shared experiences had remained a lasting thread that wove us together.

Saturday was a day of exploration and nostalgia. A large group of us set off on a bicycle tour through Amsterdam, reconnecting while taking in the scenic beauty of the city. As we cycled through the city’s charming but busy streets, conversations flowed effortlessly, mixing updates on life, work, and family with anecdotes from our student days.

Traveling back in time around the dinner table

The highlight of the weekend was Saturday night’s group dinner. Seated around a long table, we savored delicious food and drinks while stories and laughter echoed throughout the room. The evening felt like a time capsule, bringing us back to our carefree days and reminding us how much we’ve all grown. Some alumni joined us with their partners, others were expecting little ones on the way, while a few shared stories of newly-married life. We were 25 alumni in total, each carrying new roles and responsibilities, but united by a shared sense of belonging.

Bonds that cannot be broken

As the weekend drew to a close, we hugged, laughed, and even shed a few tears. Goodbyes were bittersweet, but there was an overwhelming sense of gratitude. Even after a decade, the same unique dynamic that defined our class was still present. We had all changed—and yet, we hadn’t. It’s a journey that never truly ends, and this reunion was a beautiful reminder that time and distance cannot diminish the connections we forged back then.

With hearts full and spirits high, we departed Amsterdam, already looking forward to the next opportunity to meet again. Until then, we carry with us the cherished memories of a heartfelt weekend that reaffirmed the strength of our bonds. Here’s to 3CMGM class of 2013-2014, to the journey that continues, and to the friendships that will last a lifetime!
